Susan Montgomery has over thirty years experience representing creditors, debtors, and third parties in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy proceedings.
In addition to her law degree (a J.D. from U.S.C.), she has an L.L.M. in taxation from Loyola, allowing her to help clients avoid the hidden tax pitfalls that can arise in connection with bankruptcy proceedings.

Susan I. Montgomery is a sole practitioner in Los Angeles, where she represents consumer debtors in Chapter 7 cases, provides bankruptcy tax analysis for individuals considering filing bankruptcy, and represents creditors, defendants, and others before the Bankruptcy Court in Chapters 7, 11 and 13. She speaks and writes frequently on bankruptcy and taxes, and was the author of “Tax Dischargeability Considerations Before a California Taxpayer Files Bankruptcy,” California Business Law Practitioner (Vol. 30 2015), and numerous materials for presentation by the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Financial Lawyers Conference. Ms. Montgomery currently serves on the board of the Bankruptcy Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association. She is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles; the Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California Law Center; and Loyola Law School (LLM in Taxation).
